Elkton Baptist Church at Light Up the Lake
What a fantastic night at Pomme de Terre Lake! We are grateful for the volunteers from Elkton Baptist Church and the over 150 vehicles that visited the Light Up the Lake event on December 5th. The displays are even more spectacular and brighter this year. Click on the photo below to see additional photos of the Light Up the Lake event.
Welcome to the Elkton Baptist Church
Thank you for taking the time to visit our website. We hope you find it informative.
First, we want to take this opportunity to extend a special invitation to you to come visit us. We are a small Baptist Church in a rural setting serving as a church in the Elkton community since 1852. We believe at some point in life every person needs redemption and our primary responsibility is to present the Redeemer. We are fundamental in our beliefs and conservative in our practices. Whatever occasion brings you to our area, you are always welcome to our services. We are proud of our history, our present congregation and our desire to further His cause. If you need additional information, please feel free to contact us through any of the resources listed elsewhere.
Thank you again for visiting and may you truly be blessed of the Lord.

ARTICLES OF FAITH OF ELKTON BAPTIST CHURCH
- We believe that there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and those three are one.
- We believe that the scriptures of the old and new testament are the written Word of God, and the only rule of faith and practice.
- We believe in the fall of Adam and by his transgressions all his posterity fell and were made sinners.
- We believe in the corruption of human nature and the impotency of man to recover himself from that state by his own free will or ability.
- We believe that sinners are justified in the sight of God only by the righteousness of Christ imputed to them, and that good works are the fruits of faith, and follow after justification and the evidence of our gracious state.
- We believe that the saints will persevere in grace and not one of them will finally be lost.
- We believe that there will be a resurrection of the dead, a general universal judgement, and that the happiness of the righteous and the punishment of the wicked will be eternal.
- We believe the visible church of Christ is a congregation of faithful persons who have given themselves up to the Lord and to one another having agreed to keep up a Godly discipline according to the rules of the Gospel.
- We believe that Jesus Christ is the great head of the church and that government thereof is with the body.
- We believe that water baptism and the Lord’s Supper are ordinances of the Gospel, and are to be continued until His second coming.
- We believe that true believers are the only subjects of baptism, and that immersion is the only mode.
- We believe every Christian has a right to partake of the elements of the Lord’s Supper, but that participation must always be preceded by solemn self-examination.
- We believe that civil government is of divine appointment for the interest and good order of human society, and magistrates are to be prayed for, conscientiously honored and obeyed, except only in things opposed to the will of our Lord Jesus Christ who is the only Lord of the conscience and the Prince of the kings of the earth.
